FOTD: New Products!

Featured in a recent haul, were a bunch of products from theBalm that I picked up from Hautelook. Using a bunch of products from that haul, I came up with this look:
As I mentioned above, a great deal of the products I used for this FOTD were from that Hautelook haul of theBalm. I got a good deal of the quality of the products from this FOTD and I've been using them more frequently as of late. I'll try and give y'all an idea of what I think of these products

Face:

  • thebalm Balm Shelter tinted moisturizer in Light. I actually really like this tinted moisturizer. It's gives a really natural look to the skin, while still staying true to its "tinted moisturizer" label remaining lightweight and low coverage. It has an SPF 18 (super random number) but it's better than nothing. The only downside about this product is the smell: sunscreen. Other than that, I'm very happy about this product.
  • bobbi brown correction in Porcelain Peach
  • Maybelline instant age rewind dark circle eraser in Neutralizer. This drugstore concealer is really unique: it's targeted uniquely to the under-eye area and it comes in a variety of different colours. There's fair, light, medium, brightening, and neutralizer. Obviously, neutralizer is a more orange-yellow based product and it's targeted to fight the blue-ish tint of under-eye circles. I would like to try the brightening formula and see if it compares at all with YSL Touche Eclat
  • Bourjois healthy mix concealer in 52 medium radiance
  • Chanel soleil tan de chanel bronzing makeup base
  • MAC mineralize skinfinish natural in Light Plus

Cheeks:
  • theBalm FratBoy blush: I really really love this blush. It's super comparable in texture and pigmentation to my beloved Nars blushes. It's a powder blush, but it's very velvety and soft. A little goes a long way with this blush. The colour is my favourite peachy-pink, but it definitely leans more on the pink side of the spectrum. To see a swatch of this blush, check out my original Hautelook haul
  • Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter: This highlighter has more shimmer than I'm used to, but I like it. It may be a little too much for daytime use, but I think for nighttime (a night on the town, maybe?) this highlighter casts a really pretty glow on the cheekbones. I also predict myself using this as an eyeshadow in a FOTD to come...

Eyes:
  • Maybelline Mega Plush mascara: review coming soon for this for my Mascara Problems series

I utilized both of my new eyeshadow palettes from the balm for this look.
I knew I wanted to use the Nude 'Tude palette for my eyeshadow.
I used a mixture of "Stubborn" and "Stand-offish" all over my lids.
In the crease, I used "Seductive" and in the outer corner I used just a bit of "Sophisticated." These shadows are very pigmented and you don't need a lot of product to get a good colour payoff
Finally, I took a super fluffy brush and lightly tapped it in "Sassy" which is a light, shimmery white.
The one drawback to this palette is that there are absolutely no matter shades in it at all. In comparison to the Urban Decay Naked palettes, UD always supplies at least 2 matte eyeshadow colours. I particularly really like the Naked 1 palette because the lightest matte shade "Naked" can be used to fill in my eyebrows.
So for my eyebrows, instead of using my trusty MAC Omega eyeshadow, I turned to my new theBalm Meet Matt(e) palette.
I took a small angled brush (208 from MAC) and lightly tapped it in between "Gallagher" and "Patel." Gallagher was a little too light and red-toned to use alone on my eyebrows, so I used the grayer hues of Patel to create a more ashy eyebrow colour.
It worked perfectly! I'm happy with how it turned out

Lips:
I used my new theBalm lipstick in the shade Ima Goodkisser. This lipstick is...interesting. It's not my favourite, but I don't hate it. At first, it goes on really smooth. There's a minty scent to it and it also makes my lips tingle. However, after about an hour, my lips felt really dry and they didn't look a full as before. This lipstick is a really nice colour, but it definitely need attention throughout the day.
I look so goofy in this photo, I just had to include it
so that's my FOTD using my new products from theBalm. These are the first products I have ever owned from this brand. I'm most impressed with the blush and the eyeshadows - they both have a very similar velvety, buttery texture. I also really like the highlighter, but not for everyday use.
Overall, I'm happy with the products I got and I encourage y'all to try theBalm if you haven't already
